Upgrade to 1.0.0 on Debian Lenny

Hello,

I'm running Deluge 0.5.9.3 on Debian Lenny. Today, when I opened it, it said:

"There is a newer version of Deluge. Would you like to be taken to our download site?"

I said YES, and I downloaded deluge-torrent_1.0.0-1_i386.lenny.deb

Do I need to uninstall my current version before installing the new one?

the new version is a complete rewrite so uninstall the previous version before installing it.
also, the new version should automatically import any torrents you were downloading in the old version, however there have been reports of this not working, so best finish downloading all your torrents before upgrading.

Thanks, one more thing. I've read about 0.5, 0.9 and 1.0 series. I've searched for information about those in this site but couldn't find much. I would like to understand the difference between the series and how they affect my Debian Lenny system. Could you please provide a link where I can read about this topic?

0.9 == RCs for 1.0 series

0.5 was the old deluge
1.0 is the new deluge (complete rewrite)

old and new deluge are incompatible in terms of plugins (this means there aren't many plugins in new deluge).

new deluge has core and ui separated, meaning you can run it on a headless server.

afaik, there's no official document comparing the two (maybe we should add something to the faq?)

I think I'd better keep my old version till I can find out better what to expect from the new Deluge.
