Client+tracker reports EXCESS amount of data downloaded

For a 700MB Torrent, I get 2.9GB downloaded, also checking the current status on the tracker verifies that this amount has been downloaded! What's the problem?

Running version 0.5.7.1 on Ubuntu Server 7.10

shitload of bad pieces that needed to be re-downloaded?

try using the blocklist importer plugin to block bad peers and enable the event logging plugin to see if it is due to bad pieces.
