0.6 has been in development for quite some time. Great to see that development on it is still at full speed. Just want to know what is the estimated release date of 0.6? Not pushing the developer or anything, just want to know if the developer is targeting a release date and if not, roughly when? As I am not running the development version, I have no idea how stable or unstable 0.6 is. Perhaps those testing 0.6 would also like to comment on it's current state.
Thanks and keep up the good work.
How long for ETA of 0.6?
Re: How long for ETA of 0.6?
I think plugins need the most work at this point, quite a bit of work, last I checked I think there was 3 plugins... I checked it out with a few of the nightly builds and have to say it seems quite stable and usable. There might be less plugins anyway though, I think some of the stuff we have as plugins in .5 is just built in to .6.
I think there should be and, it would be nice to see some test builds for windows, I wonder if thats in the works or us windows users will just get the final build "when it's done."

Re: How long for ETA of 0.6?
that's probably up to slurdge, but I doubt he'll want to create builds on a nightly basis.
I'm guessing the first windows version will be for the beta of 0.6 (whenever that is).
best not to rush software development - it always ends in tears if you do.
as loki said, plugins need to be ported and some of them are now redundant (such as the webui plugin).
I'd say blocklist and rss are probably the most used plugins (that will need to be ported) and I know that there's a blocklist plugin in the works already (not sure about rss though).

Re: How long for ETA of 0.6?
Woah..the plugins are not compatible? Porting them would be minor code changes or major recoding?
And what are the planned plugins to be released with 0.6 beta? I personally only will be using blocklist and webui. If these 2 plugins are stable in 0.6, then I am all in.

Re: How long for ETA of 0.6?
I'm pretty sure it's more of a complete rewrite than a few minor code changes.abubin wrote:Woah..the plugins are not compatible? Porting them would be minor code changes or major recoding?

in 0.6, the core is separated from the ui, which allows deluge to run on headless servers.
this means that web ui is just that a web ui (and no longer a plugin).
blocklist is still a plugin though.

Re: How long for ETA of 0.6?
so, what's the state of current 0.6 in term of stability? Is the core already in it's stable state or still have issues?
What's the expected ETA? this year? next year? Reason I am asking is because with 0.6 I want to integrate it into my NAS box. Cause with current 0.5, I need to install all the gui packages which is not possible in my nas box.

Re: How long for ETA of 0.6?
I've been using 0.6 for few months, there are a few glitches with the blocklist plugin, everything else looks pretty good.
I think you should give it a try

Re: How long for ETA of 0.6?
I'd also love to test 0.6, I'm looking forward to several of the features, but unfortunately no Windows build... Is this something that will change soon, or do we have to wait for beta's? (sorry if it's been answered elsewhere.. didnt see anything besides this thread)
Re: How long for ETA of 0.6?
It's up to someone to make them. markybob is currently doing the 0.5.x windows builds, so maybe he'll do the same for 0.6. I fortunately do not have a windows box to build on.forfeit wrote:I'd also love to test 0.6, I'm looking forward to several of the features, but unfortunately no Windows build... Re: How long for ETA of 0.6?
I think deluge developer should concentrate on developing deluge on linux. I mean this project started out in linux and that's where it is stable and strong. We already have tons of torrent client for windows, I don't really see why deluge should go into windows that much. Yeah sure, windows version can still be in parallel development with linux. Ultimately, linux is what deluge is all about. At least for me.
