Authenticate Password does not match

Post by S.d.magallon »

Recently upgraded to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and now I can't log in to the gtk. The authenticate window keeps popping up on launch with username: localclient and password space blank. When I go to the config/ auth folder the password is there for localclient but when I copy and paste it or type the whole damn thing in manually it still doesn't match. I'm using the same user as the file folder location so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Always only used the console I've never used the web UI. But greatly appreciate any help please. Thank you.

There is a bug, you have to edit the host entry and fill out both of them.

Current build does not accept and save passwords entered in the "password incorrect" prompt, unfortunately.

Thanks for replying. Sorry, I am very novice at this. How exactly does one do that? Thanks again for your help.

In the connection manager, click Edit on the host....fill out the username and password again with the correct ones.

Try connecting.

Can you explain this please. I'm having a similar problem and your response is not revealing much.
The documentation is even less revealing regarding this particular issue.

Maybe you can explain to me what is unclear.

There is a connection manager that controls connecting the thin-client (GTK) to hosts. It's what pops up and says "Connection Manager" at the top of the window.

Select the host.

Click Edit.

Enter the correct username and password.

Save.

Connect.

I don't know what else to reveal and "Explain" does not help me understand what part of this is not clear at all.

I'm using deluge-console to connect to the host.
I had to search how to set up the username/password config, so that would have been helpful to put in these instructions

The original post was about the GTK, and the bug I mentioned. You chimed in and did not mention you were using deluge-console until now, so how or why would that have seemed relevant to this thread?

Edit: If you're having issues with deluge-console, you should make your own thread and outline your issue, not chime in on a GTK issue with a known bug, by the way.

Ambipro,

Thanks for your reply. This still doesn't work. I edit the host name and password in connection manager, click save and the same window pops up stating the password is incorrect. I'm at my wit's end. Should I try uninstalling and reinstalling? Thanks again for your help.
