Could Someone Give me with Setting Up Deluge for Optimal Performance?

Post by Padrickk »

Hello there,

I am new to using Deluge and I am reaching out for some guidance on optimizing its performance for torrent downloading and seeding. I have installed Deluge and configured it according to some basic guidelines I found online; but I am encountering a few issues that I am hoping to get some help with.

I am experiencing slower than expected download speeds. I have checked my internet connection and it seems stable, so I suspect there might be some configuration settings that I need to adjust. I have already tried adjusting the maximum upload and download speeds in the settings; but I have not seen much improvement. Are there any specific settings or tweaks that could help increase my download speeds?

I am having trouble with seeding. I have set up Deluge to seed torrents, but it does not seem to be doing so effectively. I have made sure that the torrents are set to active and that the upload speed is set to an appropriate level, but it does not seem to be seeding as expected.

Also, I have gone through this post; https://forum.deluge-torrent.org/viewtopic.php?tableau=5175 which definitely helped me out a lot.

Could there be a configuration issue or something I might have missed?

Thank you in advance for your assistance and help.

First of all, this is not a development question so I've moved your post to the proper place, which is here in support.

Second, upload speeds are only a small part of the default available settings, there are also slots and connections - all of this is available in "Bandwidth"

Finally, depending on the libtorrent version you chose, performance can vary, but this is all going to mainly rely on your connection, the peers you are downloading from, and a lot based on your hardware. Torrenting is peer-to-peer, so the first limitation will always be WHO you are downloading from your routine to them, and their available bandwidth. The rest is your computer.

If you want to dig into settings, there is a plugin to configure libtorrent at its core (which deluge uses for torrenting) called ltConfig viewtopic.php?t=42887 that allows you granular control. Go to the last page or two of this thread to find the most up-to-date version available.

My settings are here viewtopic.php?p=237540#p237540 if you want a reference point of "super customized for very high-end hardware", however, I would warn you that without researching (google) what each setting involves and respecting the hardware you are running it on properly, the difference between "just right for your connection and hardware" and "too high and negatively affecting things" is very small sometimes.
