invisible torrent

Post by pelham456 »

back in uTor i was DLing a tor which worked great and was piling up partials, when i made the mistake of DLing another with (it seems) the SAME NAME. suddenly it couldn't see the first one.

they were NOT just copies of the same thing -- totally diff size and files/folders, like Beatles (3G, 250 files) and Beatles (2.3G, 147 files), say. but with the names matching like that, uTor got all screwed up. kept saying "already in list -- update tracker?" for one of them...even after i removed the OTHER one! (NB: same msgs if trying via magnets)

i ended up moving partials for BOTH of them out of the way -- and later on for everything ELSE -- dumping all those .DAT (resume) files. even DLed and reinstalled a FRESH COPY of uTor, to no avail. yes, with a fresh app, completely empty, totally empty target folders... it says "already have this tor..." with a straight face. what thu?!

so that's background info. i came to deluge specifically to get around this problem and i am happy to report that BOTH torrents loaded without a hitch here and both are DLing just fine. BRAVO!

a little annoying that they end up in the same OUTPUT FOLDER (each has like 300 files; rly don't wanna separate by HAND!), but at least they WORK....

so my problem is tentatively resolved, but i'd still like to know what the heck is going on. SHOULD uTor or any other client get so thoroughly screwed up by matching names?

(and NO, renaming either one doesn't solve anything. we're talking torrent name INSIDE the tor...what gets displayed in the app itself....)

how is one SUPPOSED to handle this? had i not found u what SHOULD i have done??

better yet, what is the material difference here that lets DELUGE handle them where others fail?!

TIA!
