"Auto add .torrents" silently nukes added files

Post by OOZ662 »

I installed Deluge 1.3.11 today looking for an alternative to my aging uTorrent client. I noticed the "Auto add .torrents from folder" option and figured this would be a quick path to getting migrated by simply putting in the folder where uTorrent stores its active .torrent files. Deluge then copied all the torrents over to its own folder (I assume \AppData\Roaming\deluge\state) and renamed them to some sort of hash, then deleted all the existing torrents from the uTorrent folder, rendering uTorrent unable to function with them. Guess I'd better like Deluge or else I'm going back to an outdated torrent backup.

It seems like a case of using the feature in an unintended way, but some sort of control would be appreciated. A toggle as to whether the files are deleted in the option, or even just a warning that allows one to make a copy would probably be appreciated by future users.

Well, I'm going to be less nice about this than the OP.

Deluge DELETED all my .torrent files WITHOUT PROMPTING. There is NO EASY WAY to revert this. I am sure going to regret trying out Deluge for a loooong time.

(If there is actually a way to undo this that I haven't found, this topic is a good place to post it, because it is easily found via Google)

Why is the default setting for the autoadd plugin to delete the torrent after adding it?
