Changing UI strings

Hi! First of all, thanks for creating and maintaining this awesome piece of free software!

I have a question about certain UI strings. I'd like to know if there's a way for me to change the display of data units from binary prefixes (KiB, MiB, GiB) to normal prefixes (kB, MB, GB)? Can I modify the strings in e.g. a hex editor and which strings do I change? I'm not a programmer, so be gentle.

It's not so simple to change the units I'm afraid. Though it is something I have been considering as Ubuntu have a laid out a good units policy that I think we should follow: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UnitsPolicy
