Deluge IRC and SMTP?

I have McAfee Access Protection enabled and blocking IRC and SMTP connections.
In my protection log, is shows Deluge.exe attempting to make multiple IRC connections and SMTP connections even though I am not downloading or seeding anything.
When I close Deluge.exe, all questionable activity stops. Deluge.exe seems to be the only application attempting to make these connections.
Any idea why it is trying to do this?

IRC 6666/6667 to random global IPs. I wonder if some hackers found a new overflow method...
