Torrents won't download.

For some reason when I select my /home directory the torrent just says "checking" and never downloads. if I select /var/lib/deluge as the download folder it works no problem. Could someone let me know why this happening? thanks!

Does the directory exists and does it have writable permissions for the user that deluged is running under.
