building a custom webui

I tried searching around and couldn't find any info on this, so I'm sorry if it is a redundant question. Can one make a customised webui with versions 1.2+? It no longer provides any option for selecting the webui template. And if it is possible, how would I go about doing it? Basically I just want to create a simple ui similar to the old 1.1.x dark version that will work well in mobile browsers.

I know it's not exactly what you ask for, but if you want to check the state of your torrents from a mobile device I strongly suggest trying out Transdroid (only available for Android AFAIK)
