Getdeb.net for Karmic is outdated

Post by johnnyg »

Apparently getdeb.net will no longer keep an up-to-date version of deluge due to it requiring a newer version of libtorrent.
So for an up-to-date version of deluge, please use the PPA: https://launchpad.net/~deluge-team/+archive/ppa

I've used this to install 1.2.1 on my Ubuntu machine. Works beautifully.

Why do getdeb care about what version of libtorrent is in use?

Thought I would share the method of keeping GetDeb repo for other applications but stop it trying to downgrade Deluge to 1.2.0.

In synaptic manager:

Disable GetDeb repository (Settings->Repositories)
Reload
Update Deluge to latest version
Enable GetDeb again
Reload
Find Deluge packages GetDeb is trying to downgrade to 1.2.0 (star on icon)
Select above packages then choose Package->Lock Version

This will prevent GetDeb from updating Deluge but every time a new version of PPA Deluge is released you will need to repeat this process, remembering to unlock those deluge packages.
