I'm a ubuntu user. I would love to get the new osd notifications working in deluge. I have seen the topic asking for this and the reply pointing at the previously planned plugin. I would like to pick this back up and run with it. I would not just be looking at ubuntu but wanting to make a well rounded plugin catering for as many notification systems as I can.
That said what notifications would you want? So far I have only seen torrent completed notifications with 1.1.3, correct me if i'm wrong!
Throwing my thoughts into the ring I would like the option of having:
"Torrent removed" - Listing the torrent name, share ratio at time of removal and if is possible in the future what user preformed the action *refering to the auth file used on thin client setups*
"Torrent added" - Again I have multiple users connected to my core, and I would like to know if other users add a torrent.
"Connection To Core Lost" - Or a better name as this is helpfull when on the outer reaches of my wifi or if my server crashes etc
Also I would like to add the function of other plugins being able to use the notification plugin, e.g. my autoport plugin sending out notifications that the port has changed and to what. Or that blocklist has updated itself.
In the new guidelines for notifications, it says to not use the notifications if it is not neccesary.
I can not see the point of having Torrent removed and Torrent added. Simply seeing them added and removed to the list of downloadint torrents will be enough? Let's not abuse this fine notifcationsystem

torrent adding for other users is where it would be useful (maybe you can restrict it to other people?).
also bear in mind that the notification plugin will do more than popups: it will (hopefully) also do email, etc.

Late reply but yep, will support more than gtk, and will have minimal defult notifications. Only if you want more events will you get notifications for them.
