Deluge not using incoming port?

Post by Marcelino »

I'm using IPcop firewall which refuses to support UPnP, which is fine. So I manually port forward to the computer. Using use random port. Deluge "test active port "always reports it being closed. To double check if port forwarding is working. I launch Azureus with the same port (shutdown Deluge first) and use the test connection option and it reports port is open.

I suspect that the port forwarding is working with deluge but the report is wrong. The main reason I am looking into this is that I am getting some torrents stopping due to me being accused of leeching. I don't know if this is related. Deluge does show no open incoming connection in bottom status bar.

Running Duluge 0.5.8.3 under Ubuntu Gutsy 32bit x86.
I have the same problem with the Ubuntu Gutsy repo version of 0.5.4.1-1 on same x86 computer and PowerPC Gutsy.

Update to this....while the test shows closed port, I just noticed the health indicator says everything is ok if I leave the port forward rule active on the router. I suppose it was taking a while to update so I was assuming it was not working.

So this means it is working fine but the test is just wrong?

I'd like to second the question, since I use Ubuntu 7.10 + Deluge 0.5.8.3 and cable modem, no router, and Firestarter shows tens of hits per minute on the incoming port. I've tried testing the port with Shieldsup and Deluge, and both indicated it as closed. How does it work? Does Deluge open the incoming port on startup or does it have to be opened manually on Ubuntu? Meanwhile, I've opened the incoming port with Firestarter, and it shows open both ways, but that makes port randomization impossible to use.

The only way Deluge can open ports automatically is by using UPnP or NAT-PMP.

I know that's the case with ports used by routers, but what about operating system ports? I've disabled port randomization meanwhile, and had the incoming port opened.
