webui managing torrents is a mess

Post by abubin »

Apart from the instability of deluge 1.0.0, I find the webui is also lacking in the interface especially for managing torrents.

It is really very troublesome to manage a few torrents at once. I have to manage them one by one which takes up a lot of click and loading. I am sure someone mentioned this before but I can't find where is the thread. So here goes :

1) adding multiple torrents has to be done one by one

2) starting or stopping multiple torrents has to be done one by one

3) moving torrents position in queue have to be done in the torrent details page. You can't see what position it is under in the list except to look at it's Queue Position.

4) adding of torrents when specify choose files, the previous selection will be shown instead (even after turn off caching).

5) moving and deleting torrent should be in same screen and done in one click because usually when I move the torrent, I want to delete it as well.

6) changing of torrent settings had to be done separately...For eg, I want update the trackerlist and update downloading files...have to click update twice. Also wait for reloading.

This is a project based on volunteers, a friendlier tone would be more appropriate.
And if you do criticize with a hostile tone, make damn sure that you're right.

The white template is the default template, my response is based on that.

1: Ok you're right, many other webui's have this problem too.
2 : learn to use the ctrl key, it's not that hard.
3 : use those green buttons at the top .
4 : could be a bug.
5 : I don't care. use the tabs at the bottom, not the details page.

btw: Lots of cool things are coming in 1.1 regarding managing groups of torrents.

oh..very sorry about the tone. Didn't realize it was offensive.

Anyway, would appreciate if those "features" could be improved. Deluge is a great product and it has come a long way.

Keep up the good work.

edit:
I was looking at what you said about using CTRL key but could not find it possible in the webui until I changed to white template. I was using classic template. Damn...my fault for using classic template. Sorry..but some of these features improvement still applies.

doesn't the classic template have a resume all and pause all button anyway?

Sorry...my bad for using classic template in webui. Here is the update after trying the white template.

1) adding multiple torrents has to be done one by one
Still is the case.

2) starting or stopping multiple torrents has to be done one by one
multiple highlight with CTRL possible

3) moving torrents position in queue have to be done in the torrent details page. You can't see what position it is under in the list except to look at it's Queue Position.
possible with this option in torrent list

4) adding of torrents when specify choose files, the previous selection will be shown instead (even after turn off caching).
still is the case, most probably a bug

5) moving and deleting torrent should be in same screen and done in one click because usually when I move the torrent, I want to delete it as well.
this feature would help reduce clicking and loading of webui screens

6) changing of torrent settings had to be done separately...For eg, I want update the trackerlist and update downloading files...have to click update twice. Also wait for reloading.
still is the case but this is also same in old 0.5.x just that it seems slow cause webui takes time to load thus making it noticeable
