Cannot open torrent files

Post by someguy »

Hello,

I did a search for this error and couldn't find anything related. I recently started using deluge. However, I decided to try Bitspirit for a bit and didn't like it. So I tried to reassociate torrents with Deluge in win xp. I tried to use the deluge.exe and deluged.exe in the scripts folder to no avail. So I unistalled and reinstalled deluge and I am still getting the same error whenever I try to load a torrent. The error is "This application has failed to start because libglib-2.0-0.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

Can anyone help me out with this please?

It looks like this problem is pointing to some type of gtk file missing.
When you installed it did you also install the gtk runtime? Also making sure that no programs were currently using the gtk runtime, good examples being pidgin, gimp and deluge itself.
I should also note, however, if pidgin is installed it's going to have a different gtk bundled with it (currently 2.14.7) in which case do not install the gtk runtime from deluge, instead reinstall pidgin and update it's gtk during the install process. And apparently gimp is using an even newer version of gtk (currently 2.16). I don't have gimp so I cannot comment on possible interactions between these gtk versions. (gtk should be quite backward compatible)

I recommend you uninstall both programs and gtk. Install deluge first with gtk, then install pidgin without gtk.
