How can I reduce my Disk I/O and use RAM/Cache for seeding and downloading of torrents?
I am using Ubuntu 8.10 32bit, I have a RAID 5 array (4x250mb HDs) and I have 4gb of RAM (yes I realize that not all 4 gigs is being utilized because I am using a 32bit ver of Ubuntu, but unfortunately my CPU doesn't support 64bit so I am stuck with what I got), and I would like to relieve some of the stress from my RAID array and utilize more RAM for seeding/downloading of torrents. Where can I find the optimal settings for Deluge to allow for more use of RAM and less Disk I/O?

Reduce Disk I/O, use RAM/Cache
Re: Reduce Disk I/O, use RAM/Cache
I know deluge uses a cache but it may not have configurable settings...

Bummer
I used to use uTorrent back when I was using XP, and it allowed me to customize the cache limits...
Feature Request?

Re: Reduce Disk I/O, use RAM/Cache
Yeah, it'll be a nice feature to have, especially for people seeding many torrents at high speeds. AFAIK libtorrent (the library Deluge uses) supports adjustable disk cache, we just need a option in the gui to access it.
Re: Reduce Disk I/O, use RAM/Cache
as a warning, you do realise that by using the RAM/Cache more will mean if your computer gets unexpectedly turned off, you'll lose a significantly more of your downloads.

Unless you can set the write & read cache separately...johnnyg wrote:as a warning, you do realise that by using the RAM/Cache more will mean if your computer gets unexpectedly turned off, you'll lose a significantly more of your downloads.
i.e. Set Read Cache High (for seeding) and Write Cache Low (for downloading/leeching)
