question about deluge on college firewall

This is an awesome bittorrent client and it works great, which is what is confusing me. I have been using bittorrent for a while now at school and with all other clients I would have to run the tracker information through a proxy of some kind. What is it about deluge that makes makes it work out of the box that other clients don't have.
