Windows Port Interface Tweak

Post by LauRoman »

To put it simply, is there a way to toggle text in the toolbar buttons of Deluge? Even by editing a text file?

It might just be a GTK issue, but i honestly woldn't know since i use Deluge only for Windows (on Other OSes i use other clients).

Even with its querks, i believe Deluge is at the moment, the de-facto libtorrent based client for Windows. Keep up the good work.

what exactly needs tweaking?
and at a guess I would say it's a GTK bug

I said issue not bug. :P

I just dont want to have text beside(under) toolbar buttons icons. Is there an option to toggle that - the Preferences interface does not seem to provide it - so i was wondering about a manual "text editing" way by snooping around some configuration file.

Most programs tend to have it even GTK ones.

Yes it is a snoby request :D, i do not ask that it be necesarily added in future updates, just if there is a way to do it manually (short of building my own Deluge from sources, or using an older, buggier version).

Thank You.

It works on my WinXP system. If I point my mouse on the Deluge icon in the lower right part of the screen (last part of the Windows taskbar, counting from the left), it shows my upload and download speed.

If it doesn't work for you, it must be a GTK+ or a Windows bug. I have noticed that the text sometimes disappears, but in that case it applies to all icons in the taskbar, not just the GTK+ ones.

Dude, i was talking about the TOOLBAR (<- click the link, thats how i want to see it - no text at all - if there is some way to toggle it, ore some config file to edit), the thing right under the MENUBAR, in the MAIN PROGRAM WINDOW and about a way to toggle the text there (having it dissapear or be shown with some sort of configuration).

It has nothing to do with the TASKBAR or the NOTIFICATION AREA (which you are reffering to.)

Either i have a hard time making myself clear, or you have a hard time conceptualizing. Anyway i just want an answer if it is possible, and if it is, point me in the right direction, if you can.

you made yourself perfectly clear; jesperl must have glossed over your first post. :P

have a read of this thread: http://forum.deluge-torrent.org/viewtop ... f=7&t=2795 (bear in mind that this thread is for an older version but the tools should still work)

it discusses how to change gtk prefs on windows (which is what you want to do), there should be an option to make it not display text under the buttons.

Unfortunately both gtk settings tweakers described there are just theme selectors, and i already knew about one of them. Thank you anyway.
