After crash, torrents gone, prefs reset

[running latest version of Ubuntu] Go into Deluge this morning and see the software update prompt, I click the 'take me to the site' button, nothing happens. Deluge appears to freeze/crash. Eventually, after a restart, I open Deluge to see it has updated to the latest version (odd, I thought it was taking me to the site, not auto-updating) BUT all my torrents are gone and the Preferences have been reset. I'm sure I can reload/recheck/reset the torrents and prefs, but should this have happened? When updating Deluge does it completely reset everything? I would think not and this might be the byproduct of a crash/ bug or something... This also happened once before within hours after I initially installed Deluge and updated an old version of Ubuntu. Any advice is greatly appreciated

edit: also, all plugins are missing/uninstalled... hmm
