selective downloading of files within a directory (v1.1.2)

Post by wolfie2x »

Why doesn't Deluge allow me to select/unselect files contained within a directory of the torrent?
I can't select/unselect files from the "Add Torrent" dialog and also can't set to "Don't Download" after starting (grayed out).
"Transmission" managed to do it properly, so I assume it's a problem/limitation of Deluge?

you need to using full allocation to be able to selectively download files.

Thx. I'll try that.

However this seems to be a bad design of Deludge (or simply an implementation issue?). People should be able not to allocate GBs of the disk but still be able to select/unselect files whenever they want. Not being able to do that seems a bit too limiting to me.

Full allocation uses sparse files, so they don't actually take up space until data is saved.

I don't quite agree. I prefer to have my spaces allocated in advance by deluge or any other torrent client. Cause I have time to micromanage my torrents. So, I just leave it downloading. If spaces are not allocated in advance, I will run out of space and the whole torrent client spoofed and stopped.

If spaces are allocated in advance, I will be able to know I am running out of space. I can try to clear some space or FORCE proceed (not sure if deluge support this).
