Hello all,
the problem: installed deluge and consequently XP does not shut down properly. In stead of a normal XP shutdown, XP goes through the shut down procedure, followed by a reboot!
I used before Bittorrent successfully, until some automatic update introduced this error. Being unsatisfied with this side effect (and unable to go back to an older version of Bittorrent) I uninstalled Bittorrent, and XP shutdown normally. To replace Bitttorrent, I am now trying deluge and the problem reappears.
I did some internet research but could not find a suitable solution. I tried/considered:
- cleared the page file on shutdown: no effect.
- running out of RAM is unlikely with 3GB RAM
- I am not using Zone Alarm. MS Firewall turned off. So a conflict with the firewall can be excluded.
- Prior to shutting down XP, I closed deluge (unsing File\Quit and shutdown deamon) and deluged.
Any help would be appreciated.
Some info:
- XP Professional SP2
- Deluge 1.1.0
- No firewall.
- Deluge got successfully a 16 MB file.
XP does not shut down but reboots
Re: XP does not shut down but reboots
Sounds to me like Daemon is not closing on your computer.
Check the windows task manager to see if the following processes are running after you shut down Deluge: python and deluged. If those processes are running, end those processes manually in windows task manager. Relaunch the Deluge Client. In the preferences category, un-check classic mode. Close the client. End the processes manually again in windows task manager. When you relaunch Deluge, you will have control of Daemon within the client.
Please give feedback.
My Info:
XP Professional SP3
512 KB Ram
Sygate Personal Firewall Version 5.6
Deluge 1.1.0

Re: XP does not shut down but reboots
After PC start up no deluge-processes are running. When I start deluge 5 new processes appear in the task manager:
cmd
deluge
deluged
python
python
when I shut down deluge, using the menu option "Quit & Shutdown Deamon" all 5 processes, created during start up, disappear.
Deluge does not seem to leave any processes running after shutdown.
I tried both enabling and disabling Categories \ Interface \ Classic mode. Default it was disabled. Either checking or unchecking had no effect. As described before: the PC continues to restart.
