What's up with this? Do you know if this is also affecting the new version or just the ones from the 0.5 branch?Deluge - 15/09/08
Deluge is not longer allowed, because it reports bad stats.
Do NOT come whining about this on forums or via staff P
Deluge no longer supported on private tracker
Deluge no longer supported on private tracker
One of the private sites I'm a member of just made this announcement:
Re: Deluge no longer supported on private tracker
What private tracker is this?
AFAIK, both the latest 0.5 and 1.0 branches report correct stats.

Re: Deluge no longer supported on private tracker
Same problem here, I'm not allowed to use the 0.5 anymore and 1.004 is just as slow and sluggish as 0.9. Guess it's back to Azureus til something else supports encryption properly.
Damn shame Deluge.

Re: Deluge no longer supported on private tracker
I'm on a private tracker with stats and I use full encryption all the time with no problems. Maybe the fools that wrote the site should check their code instead of locking out clients. The place where I am also banned some clients but those were ancient versions of popular clients and esoteric strange ones. Deluge never gave me a problem.spongeblunt wrote:Same problem here, I'm not allowed to use the 0.5 anymore and 1.004 is just as slow and sluggish as 0.9. Re: Deluge no longer supported on private tracker
there's nothing we can do about this. bitch at your private tracker's admins for being retarded
Re: Deluge no longer supported on private tracker
One of the older versions of Deluge altered the upload stats in your client everytime you moved a torrent up or down.
This problem made it look like I'd uploaded a HUGE amount compared to what I truly had uploaded.
It was a real, existing problem that I noticed on my own install of deluge at the time. I am sure the discrepancy was not reported to the tracker (I never got a free upload boost), but it left a wider and wider difference between what the tracker said I had uploaded & what deluge said I had uploaded. Something that could cause problems on private trackers where accurate reporting of upload/download stats is of great importance in maintaining ratios.
Admittedly, it's not as bad as if it reported the stats incorrectly to the tracker, but it would still leave many users thinking they had uploaded far more than their ratios reflected, leading to many complaints from disgruntled members. I think this is one of the main reasons it might be banned on some private sites.
You should also bare in mind that certain versions of uTorrent, bitcomet and Azureus are banned on many private trackers do to faults with those particular versions, or due to "unsafe" file-sharing abilities that those versions had. Also alpha/beta versions of clients are discouraged for similar reasons.

So I'm sure deluge is not permanently banned on those trackers. But only until users move over to the newer, more mature versions of deluge. Until then all you can do is make sure the admin of those sites that ban deluge are made aware of the fixes and updates to deluge that make banning it no longer appropriate.

May I use any bittorrent client?
Most modern BT Clients can be used with this tracker, although there is a built in client ban that rejects the following clients: Azureus versions: 2.2.0.1, 2.2.0.2, 2.2.0.3, 2.2.0.4, 2.2.0.5, 2.2.0.6, 2.3.0.0, 2.3.0.2, 2.3.0.4 BitComet .59, .60 and most BitLord versions µtorrent versions: 1.1, 1.2 All Torrentstorm versions This is due to cheating modifications made available to some of those clients, while others just don't report your stats correctly to the tracker.
Code: Select all
May I use any bittorrent client?
Yes. The tracker now updates the stats correctly for all bittorrent clients. However, we still recommend that you avoid the following clients:
• BitTorrent++,
• Nova Torrent,
• TorrentStorm.
These clients do not report correctly to the tracker when canceling/finishing a torrent session. If you use them then a few MB may not be counted towards the stats near the end, and torrents may still be listed in your profile for some time after you have closed the client.
Also, clients in alpha or beta version should be avoided.
Re: Deluge no longer supported on private tracker
Also in the great HDBits.org tracker, Deluge is permanently Banned. You should definitely check it and talk to the administrators of the tracker to take this decision back.
Re: Deluge no longer supported on private tracker
if its any consolation, deluge (0.5.93, 0.9.07, 0.9.08, 0.9.09, 1.0.0) is supported in scenehd.org
Re: Deluge no longer supported on private tracker
This whole thing is silly. I don't believe Deluge is reporting improper stats at all. I think this may have been perceived due to the uploaded total stats that were messed up in earlier 0.5.x versions. The bug just caused the displayed value of uploaded bytes to be higher then the actual amount, but Deluge didn't send this value to the tracker, rather it has always sent a correct value.
If there is any actual proof that Deluge is sending wrong information to the tracker PLEASE let us know.. As of right now all these claims have been unsubstantiated and as such we can't find a bug to fix.

Re: Deluge no longer supported on private tracker
Problem still exist. I have just downloaded 62 GB torrent but my tracker noticed that I have downloaded only 4 GB. I am using Deluge 1.1.1 on ubuntu 64 bit.
Also I had similar problem before (versions 1.0 to 1.1) but the differences were smaller like 200MB. I tried manually update tracker and checked everything two times.
What information do you need to confirm this problem and possibly fix it?
I really love deluge, but now I cant use it on my tracker...
