Stop hash checking

Post by carlocardoso »

Hello,
is there some way to stop the automatic hash checking of torrents when the client starts? It happens when the client crashes and/or the data downloaded changed. This is very annoying because I want to decide if the client must do the hash check or not. If there isn't any way can you please add an option to disable the automatic hash check at the start?

Thanks

It would be great to stop checking on demand ! But wouldn't this lead to some data corruption?

yes, it would lead to corruption. if we dont have a saved fast resume file, we have to recheck, or else we dont know which pieces we have and their state. so if there's a crash, we must recheck. on a normal close, we'll save a fast resume, so we dont recheck.

May be very useful to give the possibility to stop the hash check, with the FORCED STOP of the torrent. We cannot restart the torrent until the hash check for this torrent is completed. I say this because sometimes for a lot of torrent that have to check, the system may become unstable and very beausy for a lot of I/O with the disk device. ;)

Or if it could check like five at the same time. that would make me happy.

Seems as long as you let it finish the hash check it doesn't have to recheck it, and as long as it is closed and not crashed it should remember.

What about not allowing the restart of the torrent before the hash checking is complete? Is it so difficult? I don't think so because Utorrent does this very same thing. So you can give the user the possibility to stop the recheck thing without any problems.
I think the users are able to decide for themselves if stopping the hash check or not.
