Bad experience with Ubuntu 8.04.1 + Deluge 0.5.x or newer

Post by philipcs »

Just would like to share my experience.

Previously I am using Ubuntu 7.04 + Deluge 0.5.8.4 in my old PC, the download speed can reach around 100kbps (consider fast in Malaysia) in total downloads.

Due to I dont have more space for my old rig, i decided to consolidate the hard disks to my new rig.

In my new rig, I was using latest Ubuntu 8.04.1 + latest Deluge 1.0 RC. The download speed is suck. Even I have copied my old rig deluge setting, I cant even get more than 20kbps in total downloads.

I have keep trying with different version of deluge, but still slow. :(

Since i am not sure the problem is deluge or OS, I have tried to format and installed older version of ubuntu and get the same deluge version as my old rig, which is Ubuntu 7.10 + Ubuntu 0.5.8.4. Immediately, I got the good download speed as my old rig.

Below is my current Deluge Setting:

the most probable cause is that you didn't properly configure the latest version of deluge (this isn't as straightforward as it used to be seeing there isn't a wizard yet).

This could also be a matter of chance, where you are only connected to slower peers, since there are over 1k of them. Try pausing, waiting a min, and resuming, and see if that resolves that. I am running the newer .9 series with very good speeds on 8.04.1
