Ports

Post by mynogan »

This is probably a very basic question. How many ports do I need to use/open? Right now I just have one. I have a max of three simultaneous active torrents. Is there a need to open up 3 ports?

Thanks for help. I do have another question. Can you change your port and activate it without restarting deluge? I thought you couldn't but I just did that and it appeared to work.

Hi,
I just changed my ports from 6882 to 48152-65535 (re: FAQ page). Quit & restarted Deluge and instantly increased download speed and number of peers/seeders. I also increased the number of upload slots to enable seeding after 100% download. It didn't do that before.
What I can't yet get to work:
1-Show locations/countries of peers.
2- limit individual torrent speeds, overall speed limits work fine.
I was a XP uTorrent user for a long time. Deluge is very similar
Thanks to the developers & bug fixers, keep up the good work!!

Using 0.5.5 on a Toshiba laptop with Gutsy.
Cliff.

The TorrentPeers plugin has a preference that enables the showing of that peer's country flag. In the same place that you enable the plugin, you'll see the "Preferences" button.

Thanks Markybob,
1-country locations/flags.
I overlooked the "preferences". Silly me.
2- I can select the download speed, it indicates I have selected it but it doesn't actually limit it. Download speed is still the same.
3- Upgrade - I installed through synaptic, what is involved in upgrading? I'm not a very experienced command line operator.

Thanks for the advice/help.
I really like the program!

download the deb file for your distribution from http://download.deluge-torrent.org and then double click on it. synaptic should then pop into action and ask you for a password to install. the end.

Re: Ports & Upgrading

Downloaded - installed - troublefree.
Damn, that was easy.
Version 0.5.7 has nicer features, it seems to be more efficient, faster DL Speeds or maybe it's my imagination.
Thank you very much for the effort you've put into it.
And advice.
