User stats

Post by markybob »

Since we first introduced the "anonymous stats" feature in Deluge, I've said that we'd make the data public. Well, after months of hoping that someone else would step up and do it, here are the stats, complete with pretty graphs :P
Note that Ubuntu and Debian by default have our anonymous stats pref disabled, so I'm sure that it's just a small percentage of users who actually send us info to begin with. From a developer standpoint, though, the stats we collect are the only feedback we have and it's what we use to decide which versions/plugins should be supported/worked on, etc. In other words, you should send us info and be counted :P

I think you might have a typo on the last graph.

"Dedired Ratio" should probably be "Desired Ratio"

Is there a way to send the system information manually, or when is it sent? And how often?
You mean there's only 11 people that use 0.6?!

it gets sent/updated once weekly, if you have it enabled in your preferences (in Other). it just got added to 0.6 three days ago, which is why it shows only 11 people. the code just wasnt there yet... and the default pref is disabled :P

Wow, insteresting. According to ubuntu's popcon (similar thing - it's disabled by default, when enabled, sends anonymous statistics weekly), 11%ish of the ubuntu users are on 64bit. Debian's popcon (don't know if it's enabled or disabled by default) shows 13%ish.

Here... less than 1%

Too bad I don't know how to do any server-side scripting. If anyone does, making the plugin use more different colors & getting reports on which distros are used would be nice ;)
