Ubuntu/Deluge

Post by pirriss »

Hi,
Trouble with Deluge install on Ubuntu, I have 2 options here via ppa and Flatpak. The first one is not letting me use it as standalone for murky libtorrent library error and the second, Flatpak is working but with many flows in the settings. Is there any solution, version, to make Deluge be 100% compatible with Pop-os (a Ubuntu derived ) system?
Thank you.

I could change permission using the app Flatseal which is great but still, some greyed out settings remain.

I would suggest you try using python (via the pip command) to install, this is the most up to date and universal option.

You will need to install python3, usually 3.10 is compatible, I think 2.2.0 goes to 3.12 or maybe 3.13 though, but I have not tested this and stick with 3.10 myself.

Instructions for installing via pip are also in the documentation or on pypi.com when you go to deluge's project page.

Hello pirriss,

Have you tried to use the default apt package instead? I assume you use the latest pop-os version?

@shinger @ambipro thank you for your interest, I did try to install it in all possible ways and the only most compatible that let me work in standalone mode is the flatpak with the latest Pop-os v.
I will investigate the Python3 although already installed.
Thanks.

Hello pirriss,

Could it MAYBE be, that deluged was not installed only deluge-gtk package? Because you do need deluged to make deluge work standalone.

Even though you install everything on your desktop, deluge-gtk is still a thinclient that is connecting to the deluged (daemon back ground process) that is in this case running on your desktop.

Hi @shinger, I have no idea what deluged is and where to get it. I have installed Deluge in all possible way only to get the same result. I tried the pip install but I have no comprehension on how to open pip deluge. At this point I think going back to another competitor that would be more suitable for my knowledge. Thanks.
