Deluge not seeding torrents

Post by leif »

This is an issue I have been facing for some time but its been getting worse over the past months. I have about 5000+ torrents in my library. Most are FOSS pulled in from RSS feeds. A few are for private trackers.

I noticed that after passing the ~1000 torrents mark, I was seeing fewer and fewer of my torrents actually doing any upload activity for seeds. These are torrents that previously connected to seeds regularly, both public and private. Now that I am over 5000 torrents, only about a dozen or so torrents (mostly ubuntu ISO's) ever get any upload at all. The rest all sit idle. This includes private torrents that used to seed regularly. Now they are completely un-seeded to the point where trackers do not even register them as being seeded anymore.

I have debugged this several times and the only possibility is that Deluge itself has just stopped seeding these torrents. My ports are open, I can verify with online port checkers and netcat, all my Deluge settings are configured for unlimited number of seeding torrents, unlimited number of connections, I have an upload cap around 10MB/s, but most everything else is set to unlimited. The torrents used to seed, now Deluge is making no attempt to seed them. This has caused an impact to my ratio on private trackers. Meanwhile the few public torrents I have uploading are still seeding at full speed. The other 4950 torrents all sit idle and never connect to any peers, ever.

Its not clear to me if this is an issue with my configuration, or if its an issue with Deluge itself. Or something else? Any ideas? I have Google'd over and over and over again and have not been able to find anything that addresses this kind of situation. I noticed that some users on here have thousands of torrents in their Deluge, maybe there is some setting I missed that is required to make it work? Thanks

I would look into your settings, and consider venturing into ltConfig plugin. It will let you customize the libtorrent settings and increase your performance. I've posted my settings in the plugin thread, you can see that here -> viewtopic.php?p=237540#p237540

It's a rabbit hole if you take it seriously, but there's relatively good documentation and posted configs in the thread to give you some idea of what to aim for....but be prepared for alot of trial and error.
