WebUI issues

Post by jiganto »

Hi, I've setup a spare Dell GX240 as a centralized torrent-downloading/seeding machine for me and my roommates. I've done this before several times, I simply did it using a VNC server and my roommates had to use a VNC client. This was less than ideal, but it worked. Now using the WebUI, it works great. They never have to interface with that machine directly and it all just looks and works sleeker. However... the GX240 is only a P4 1.6Ghz and I noticed that the WebUI is a huge resource hog... so much so that the CPU is almost always running at 100%, and CPU fan is constantly blowing at full RPM. This is quite undesirable since the machine is on 24/7. I did this setup originally with Azureus... but that was horrible, so I tried Deluge but the performance increase was negligible.

Is there any way to improve the performance of the WebUI? Or a different setup that I can try? What I really want to be able to do is to add torrents without directly interfacing with the machine, which is easy enough, but I also want to have some method of getting feedback from the machine to see how the downloads are coming along, etc.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
