I want to start off by saying how much I love deluge. I tried it awhile ago and thought it was so so just to be honest and I've been using ktorrent for the longest time, then after reading full circle magazine and seeing posts in ubuntuforum about the improvements I tried deluge again and I absolutely love it.
One thing is that with uttorent I was able to create a torrent file and host it on my own computer. Is there any way on doing that with deluge? I see that there's an icon to create a new torrent, but not sure what to put in for tracker or if I need to do port forwarding or anything in order to share/host?
Thanks in advance
hosting torrent files?
Re: hosting torrent files?
I was also wondering the same thing.
Is there good documentation for Deluge somewhere? I'm kinda new at torrent clients, and a few walk-throughs would be nice.
Thanks

Re: hosting torrent files?
hi!
maybe you didn't get the idea of bittorrent yet?
when you're downloading files you're uploading the same time.
when you created a torrent-file in utorrent you have to add trackers, too.
it might be helpful to read some articles about the bittorrent protocol:
wikipedia
just follow the links at the bottom of the wikipedia-page and you'll find lists of trackers, a video-tutorial and more information.

Re: hosting torrent files?
I'm aware that downloading your uploading and telling me to create a torrent-file in utorrent seems to suggest your telling me how to do something in utorrent.
I'm asking how to take a file group of files on my computer, create the torrent file and host the tracker.

Re: hosting torrent files?
deluge is not a tracker; you cant. you need a separate piece of software if you dont want to use a public site tracker. fyi, utorrent doesnt have a tracker, either. azureus does, though.
Re: hosting torrent files?
I think what the OP is asking is HOW TO CREATE the actual .torrent file in Deluge.
I'm pretty sure you have to:
1) click on the "New Torrent" icon located on the top left side of the GUI
2) Click on the file or folder's source location
3) SAVE TORRENT AS: "whatever.torrent" (important part) I save it to my desktop.
4) Copy/Paste the tracker address from the site you're uploading to (located on the site)
5) Comments on the file(s)
6) Your name in the author box.
Solved.
