how to stop from deluge from loading at boot

You're welcome, but if you don't run deluge very often, then disable the webui, and load it on demand. Having the webui be always loaded, but non-functional, isn't doing you much good, and you have to start deluged manually anyway, then you just as well could start webui(and hence, deluged) manually also. Just my opinion, and maybe i'm too misunderstanding something, as practically never use the webui, only run deluge from terminal or scripts from when clicking torrents/magnets.

yeah, I was pulling at the wrong end of the stick.
so, now they are both disabled and I can start the show by starting deluge-web.

when using Deluge, I always use the GUI as well.
any chance of loosing the password for the GUI ??

Sorry, what password is that? I didn't think you needed one in the GUI or I have none atleast. Do you mean the webui? I maybe am confusing things, as only rarely fire the GUI or webUI up for testing purposses and only normally use deluge-console/deluged.

my machine runs headless.
the communication with my machine is usually over ssh.
I can also get to it with xrdp, but this is done very rarely.
so, the software that I have to look at, is done with a web-gui over port 8112 for Deluge.
and there you get a password question.

I briefly looked it up, and unless something changed in meantime then all you can do is set a blank password and press return to authenticate, or else resort to actually changing the deluge-code itself, though one patch presented didn't apply no more I could see because of code changes in between. You can set the password to empty, I believe, in webui preferences.
