Seed a file which was moved

Post by jonjondotcom1312 »

I downloaded a file from a tracker.

I recently moved that file into another location and now Deluge is re-downloading that same file again to the old location.

How do I tell Deluge that the original file location has moved and to continue seeding the file from the new location?

I did "Move Storage" into the file's new location and did a force re-check. But Deluge continues to download the torrent, just to the new location that I specified in "Move Storage" T_T

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Similar to the problem listed here (http://forum.deluge-torrent.org/viewtopic.php?t=21055) but I'm just not sure why Force Recheck isn't getting Deluge to recognize the original files, just in a new location/filepath.

Move storage usually will take the current file and copy it to the new location. You might want to make sure that it didn't over write your old file with the newly started download. Best to use the move storage option while the file is still at the old location. I believe it will work as you expected if the old file is already gone though. Your other option is to delete the torrent and re-add it and then point to the new location and force recheck. You could probably add as a seed as well.

Thanks for the reply Shryp.
I'm pretty noob-ey when it comes to Torrents and there's a lot that you said that I feel like I don't get.

I wish I would have known this earlier. Thank you.

How do I point Deluge to the new location? Is this through Move Storage?

How do I "add as a seed"?

You can just delete the torrent and leave the data. Then reload the torrent like before you downloaded and set the save location to the new location. Then force recheck.

As for the add as a seed thing, ignore that. I can't find that option now so that must have been a different client. It just loaded the torrent and set it to seeding without every rechecking it.
