No seeding

Post by justinleeldn »

I am new to Deluge and have noticed that once a download has completed it stops seeding. I know there have been numerous topics on this problem, but i am still yet to find a solution

Any suggestions? I have tweeked the upload connections etc, but this should not make much of a difference if not a single torrent is seeding upon completion. I have come from Bittorrent, because their adverts have become ridiculous and would really like to be able to use Deluge.

Thanks.

On windows I found this problem related to the firewall not being configured correctly during the installer.

I found the issue was windows blocking incoming connections on files other than deluge.exe (which the installer configures to allow). It was not obvious at first because when going to the Control Panel, Windows Firewall, Allowed Programs screen I saw deluge.exe listed as allowed. When I added deluge-console.exe, deluged.exe, deluge-gtk.exe, and deluged-web.exe and set them to allow the connections came in.

I wouldn't be surprised if only a subset was required such as deluge-gtk.exe. However I didn't have time to test and adding all of them worked. Note I excluded the debug and a few of the executable in the same directory.

The Test Active Port (TAP) button was always working and showing green. The port was forwarded from the firewall correctly. There were no indications from Deluge User Interface that it was having any problems.

I never had the "no incoming connections" message either. Everything appeared as connected even though outbound/seeding connections were not working.

The most obvious indication that things were working was population of the upload speed fields and the torrent indicating it had bytes synchronized in the right direction (where previously all showed 0 bytes).

Thanks to a number of threads for getting me to an answer.
