Firewall settings in BitDfender

Post by Allesok »

Deluge does not - yet - work in my Win7Ultimate with Bit Defender Internet Security. It doesn't download anything. µTorrent does ...
The suggestions I received from BitDefender support are:
1. Open the main Bitdefender user interface and click on Protection.
2. Select Firewall and click on the 2nd tab called Rules.
3. Find the rule for the Deluge torrent and delete it as a new one must be created.
4. Click on Add rule and use the Browse button to select the path for application.
5. At Network type select all the options and at Permissions select Allow.
6. Click on the Advance tab. We will need to add the IP and the port for the Deluge torrent. More information regarding the port and the IP of the application can be found in this article: http://dev.deluge-torrent.org/wiki/UserGuide/ThinClient

It is not clear to me which IP I should enter (none specific is found in the article referred to). I tried with the port 58846.

Please help.

58846 is the port to connect to itself for the gui. The default bit torrent ports are 6881 - 6889 or something like that. They will be listed in the network section under the preferences. I have never used bitdefender, so I have no idea how it works or how you set things up there. Can you temporarily disable it to see if things work right then? Also you will probably need to forward the ports on your firewall. Even with the ports not forwarded you should be able to do outbound connections. Most firewalls only block incomming ports.
