0.5.8.9 Released

Post by markybob »

All,
Andar has done great work and figured out why 0.5.8.8 crashed on adding torrents for so many of you. The last release's trouble was unfortunate and I'm sorry for that...for those geeks who care, we the developers didn't experience the problem ourselves prior to release because we were both running it in 64-bit and the bug was a 32-bit *only* problem. Anyway, that should be behind us now (I sure hope so, anyway).

The release will go live at 9:15AM UTC...but I'm posting this notice a little early since I'm headed off to bed :P
Deluge 0.5.8.9 (14 April 2008)
* Fix segfault caused in 0.5.8.8 when adding torrents
* Change fast resume to use is_finished
* LT - Fix private flag
* LT - Verify url before connection to web seed

Cheers

This version seems to be working way much better than the previous! Thanks!

I've discovered an old problem that still seems to hang on though. I downloaded three torrents, rebooted Ubuntu and then restarted Deluge. Then it immediately started to download on of the torrents again from around 20%! That specific torrent was 100% complete before the reboot of Ubuntu.

Just thought I'd let you know a bug just arrived back in this release... "Open containing folder" does not work, in windows vista anyway.

hi markybob,
I take it 0.5.8.9 is using the latest libtorrent 0.13?

I read somewhere (tomshardware.com) that Comcast is disabling the throttling by early next year or something. But i am sad that since last weekend (when i was using 0.5.8.7) my isp has been able to throttle the torrent bandwidth. Thus, i crossed my fingers for 0.5.8.9, but sadly, nothing changed.

View the untitled.GIF for a sample download speed.

ps: my down limit is 512kbps (64kBps). in the picture, down speed ~20.6kBps, usually w/o throttle it could go 46kBps.
