Extremely jumpy download speeds

Post by Fiendz »

Hello

I'm getting very jumpy download speeds when a torrent can reach 10-12 mb/s.

At the start of the torrent it reaches a peak of 10-12 mb/s, the cap of my 100mbit connection. After around 30sec it goes down to around 3-4 mb/s and stays there. If I pause and resume it goes back to 10-12 mb/s.

I've tried different trackers and torrents, switched them to another hard drive, nothing works.

What does work is that If I use another torrent program it stays on 10-12 mb/s and does not go below for the exact same torrent that was going down to 3-4 mb/s on Deluge

Deluge 1.3.9
Win 7 x64

Open a command window and run ping google.com -t while seeing the downloads.
I had jumpy speeds with certain clients because of the way they were using up the bandwith, causing ping spikes.
In that case, you can run QOS on your router with a limit of 90% of your max, or set deluge to use that min/max.

Also check if you have the same max connections set and that the port is forwarded properly. You may not have all the peers connecting properly with deluge if you haven't changed this.
