In the FILES tab, double-clicking on any cell in any column other than filename will open the file.
When you single-click on the filename cell, it puts the filename in edit mode. This prevents a double-click from occurring.
It would be great if double-clicking on the filename opened the file rather than putting the file in rename mode.

I was aware of this and I think I started to look into it. If you create a ticket it won't be forgotten about.
