Problems with some torrents, not others...

Post by Varjak »

I've had this happen several times now. When downloading a torrent (it seems mostly to occur with large torrents with multiple files), the download speed will ramp up with lots of seeders and then quickly ramp down as seeders quickly fall away until nothing is downloading, even with a few seeders showing as active. The current torrent is about 12 GB with nearly 100 seeders and is over 90 percent complete when the problem started again. I have ample room on the hard drive (and made more just in case). I even tried focusing on one file to see if that made a difference. It didn't. At the same time, I'm downloading/uploading fine on other torrents, and the problematic one is uploading at a fast speed. Am I missing a setting or something? Thanks.

Thanks, but I don't think I'm even using that version from 1.3.7. I'm using an earlier version.

This problem is periodic. The particular torrent I was talking about 'fixed itself' somehow and completed. Another problem that seems to come and go is that Deluge seems to disconnect my router from WiFi. Sometimes I can simply reconnect the network adapter; but sometimes I have to reboot the whole computer. It makes it hard to seed for others when I'm not downloading.

There is no longer any support for libtorrent 0.15 which is in earlier versions so you are best upgrading to 0.16 and seeing if you still see issues.

I'm still having intermittent problems.

And I have what is probably an obvious, newbie question; but what does it mean when, under 'seeders' it shows 1 (0). That seems counterintuitive to me. I understand when it's something like 18 (37), where 18 of 37 possible seeders are active; but how can it be 1 of 0?

Right now, I'm trying to get a torrent I've tried to get for a long time. Finally a seeder with 100 percent of the file showed up and Deluge is showing 1 (0); but nothing is downloading. It seems to be trying every so often to download at a very slow speed; but it keeps stopping. (I don't mean that my Internet access is shutting down, I mean the downloading is stopping). This torrent only seems to have one seed with 100 percent, although if I get it I will seed it.

I would need to ask the libtorrent dev to clarify but the number in brackets is from the tracker and it's possible that the one seed is instead from DHT or PEX.

Thanks.

I think I've narrowed down the problem somewhat. It seems only to happen with torrents with multiple, large-ish files (not counting subtitles or NFOs or samples). If I delete the torrent (but not the data) it will start working again and slowly stop. Uploading seems fine. And it seems to work better if I don't stop downloading some of the files or alter their priority. Right now, it's showing 1(1) with a seeder with 100 percent (obviously) and no data downloading at all. I'm thinking of trying qTorrent or something to see if the results are different.

I'm a bit concerned about upgrading, as some seem to report errors and corrupted torrents with 1.3.7. So I'm stuck.

Using the latest 0.16 libtorrent pinned in this forum nearly all of the errors have been resolved, so just copy those files after installing 1.3.7.

Can 0.16 be used with 1.3.5? As I noted, there seem to be issues with 1.3.7, so I'm a bit reluctant to upgrade. And how do I tell which version of the pinned file I need? The PY version or not?
