Can't create torrent

Post by Jingo »

Hello everyone,

it has to be a misuse from my part because I can't find any info on the net : so there it is, I cannot create a torrent on my Windows machine. Deluge behaves normally (except for the file browser dialog for selecting the torrent's contents, which does not close on its own), but no .torrent file is created. I've tried with earlier releases until 1.3.3, same problem. I tried μTorrent and it works fine, but I really don't want to fall back to that. Any additional info I should provide ?

I'd appreciate any help, any hint !

Thank you,

Jingo

Thanks, but I need a little more details, I'm afraid I'm not technical enough. I tried typing this in the cmd window (from the FAQ) :

Code: Select all

deluge -L <debug> -l <%H%\Desktop\log>
It says syntax incorrect.

That's because the syntax is incorrect...

Try something like this:

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\Deluge\deluge.exe" -L error -l C:\deluge.log

Thanks, I believe it's started now. If I understand correctly I have to attempt to create a torrent in command line ? Is there a list of commands somewhere ? (As you can see I'm not familiar with all this but I'm really trying. Is there any chance someone went to the extent of creating a how-to for newbies ?)

Hello,

I scoured the website for hints but I really don't know what I'm doing. I'd like to provide you with a .log but I honestly think I need a "how-to"... any chance someone guide me through the process ?

Thanks,

No you simply try to create the torrent as usual then see what messages appear in logs or console...

Hello,

I got hold of my computer again, so I tried doing what you instructed Cas. I changed the path to C:\Program Files (x86)\Deluge otherwise it said invalid path, but Deluge still does not start (although now it doesn't say invalid path). I tried starting it by hand and creating a torrent but no log file is created. Nothing appears in the cmd window either. I'm trying my best to understand what's going on but as I said, I'm very rookie about all this. Thanks a lot for helping ! :)

Just as a side note, I am a (granted small) contributor to some software manuals and help forums, and I support beefing up the FAQs in every possible way so that redundant questions don't get asked so often, and rookies do not have to rely on developer's time to get the help they need.
