I am running Deluge 1.3.6 on a Windows 7 system. It was working just fine for months and months until today, when I tried to open it and nothing happened. There is no window, no tray icon, there is nothing on the task bar, but I can see deluge.exe running in the task manager.
I looked at the window off screen solution, but I only have one monitor and there is no icon for me to Shift + Windows Key on.
Deluge running but no window, tray icon, or task bar
Re: Deluge running but no window, tray icon, or task bar
Have you tried killing the running process then trying again?
Re: Deluge running but no window, tray icon, or task bar
Yes, I closed the program, uninstalled, reinstalled, and restarted my computer.
Re: Deluge running but no window, tray icon, or task bar
OK, the window just popped up 20 minutes later. I think my hard drive is dying.
Re: Deluge running but no window, tray icon, or task bar
I'd like to piggyback on this thread because I've developed the same symptoms using Deluge on Windows 7. I've been using Deluge for a year or two without any problems but suddenly can't get the program window on my desktop to show even though I can see it running in the task manager. I can get the icon to appear on the taskbar and can even see the mini-window when I hover the arrow over the taskbar icon but cannot get the actual window to appear. I've tried uninstalling multiple times (using Windows uninstall and Glary Utilities) and reinstalling (using the most current available version) but doesn't help. Very frustrating. Does "uninstalling" really get rid of all aspects of the program or could there still be some files / register entries remaining? Is there a way to completely get rid of the program so I can get a true clean install (other than re-installing the whole system)? Also tried to start a new torrent to see if it would somehow unstick the lost window but that also didn't work. Any other suggestions on what I can try? Thanks!
Re: Deluge running but no window, tray icon, or task bar
After much trial and error, was finally able to get the window back. It had somehow moved off the visible area of the desktop.
Just to document this in case anyone comes searching for the same symptoms, here's how I fixed it:
Hover the mouse arrow over the Deluge icon on the task bar until the mini-window appears. Position the arrow on the mini-window, right-click, and choose "move" from the popup menu. (If "move" is greyed out but "restore" is available, choose restore, than hover over the icon again until the mini-window appears, right-click, then choose "move"). The mouse arrow should move to the window edge that is closest to where the program window is off-screen. If the arrow moves to the far left of the desktop, use the right arrow key on the keyboard to move the program window back to the visible desktop; or if the arrow moves to the top, than use the down arrow, etc. If the arrow moves to a corner (e.g., upper left corner), you'll need to use a combination of arrow keys (e.g., right arrow key and down arrow key) to get the program window back onscreen.
