All my torrents gone

Post by mandarinka »

Hi! I am brand new to Deluge and just spent something like 2 hours importing all my torrents seeding for private trackers, into Deluge.

I shut Deluge down for a while, and when I restarted it, all the torrents are gone!
I don't know where the info about what's being downloaded is stored.

Something seems a bit off too:
  • The menu item for adding new torrent files is greyed out.
  • I am getting showed a Connection Manager which did not happen before when I restarted.
I am on Windows 8, 64 bit.

A few days ago, I migrated my Users folder over to another drive. Could it have something to do with that? However I installed Deluge after that.

Any tips appreciated.

I am gutted because of all the potentially wasted time.
It would take even longer now, to redo it, because I removed all the torrent files from Vuze, so have to locate and import the torrent files from scratch, and point to the right files in order to be able to seed these files -- which I must do for ratio.

Did you disable classic mode? That is the likely reason.

Thanks for the response!
Yes, you were completely right. That is what happened.
I was so certain the profile was corrupt or moved or something, that I didn't consider the most obvious thing, like having changed a setting myself, although I don't remember it.

In the meantime I discovered the "fastresume" file and a bunch of others...
Apart from this drama I am really liking Deluge.
Loving those little icons for the trackers!

Where can I find some "for dummies" style guide... Like a video or a really easy tutorial.... ?

I'm afraid there isn't any beginners guide specifically written by us. You could look for blogs/sites that have guides or helpful pointers and I imagine most questions have already been answered on these forums so could use google site search.

Hi again. Same problem happened again but this time it's not "Classic mode".
I have about 250 torrents running that I need to seed, so I feel a bit panicky.
Is there some setting or property file for this?
I did absolutely nothing to Deluge, but had a system freeze and needed to reboot. After this, the problem occurred.

If your system freezes then it can corrupt the torrents.state file and you would lose your torrents.

You will need to be more precise about what the issue is.

Hi Cas, Thanks for responding :-)

I discovered that all the torrent files are still present in the "State" FOLDER, in %APPDATA%\deluge\
But for some reason, Deluge is not loading them.

All my settings regarding port for example, and tweaking to optimize speed, are still present.,
But the torrents don't get loaded. The client is empty, devoid of torrents as if it was a brand new install with nothing downloaded.

I don't know about the torrents.state file and how I can check if it is ok...?

EDIT: I found a file called torrentview.state. It is only 3KB.

I opened it in Notepad and I found some text.

The small size of the file really makes me fear the worst.
Is there any way back from this, short of re-importing 250 torrents, which would basically be at least half my Sunday gone... :(

Those state files are irrelevant, it's in the state folder: %APPDATA%\deluge\state\torrents.state

I see. Ok in the directory you mention, the files say:

torrents.state
very small file, only 3 kb

Code: Select all

(ideluge.core.torrentmanager
TorrentManagerState
p1
(dp2
S'torrents'
p3
(lp4
sb.

The torrents.fastresume file is 2500 KB and is not really readable, although I spotted some of my trackers in there.
It's probably not been overwritten.

Am I doomed to have to import everything again?

[in the meantime I am taking this opportunity to try out qbittorrent. Nice that it's in c++ but I am missing Deluge already, particularly the tracker categories and the prettty icons. ]
