Deluge GTKUI headless server

Post by Gaylore »

G'Day all.

I am a Linux/Deluge newbie and am trying to set up my Deluge GTK UI remotely (can do it on the server if it is easier) so I can enable plugins as this isn't available in the WebUI. I am using the guide here http://dev.deluge-torrent.org/wiki/UserGuide/ThinClient and am lost as to how I activate the GTK UI? I have followed all the steps but am not sure if I am meant to be using a command to bring up the UI (have tried sudo deluge-gtkui). Normally I rely on tinkering, YouTube and web guides but there seem to be none on the GTK UI, only the link I listed above.

Can anyone hold my hand and guide me through the process of accessing the GTK UI?

I am using Ubuntu Server 12.04 and have installed deluged, deluge-console and deluge-webui.

You're not starting the GTK UI on the server. You use the GTK UI (on your desktop machine) to connect to the daemon running on the server. On the server you need to enable remote access in core.conf and set the port it will listen for connections. This port must be open (forwarded in your router/firewall). On your desktop machine, start deluge and in the preferences unclick "Classic Mode". This will add an icon in the toolbar for the connection manager where you can add your server address and hopefully connect.
When reporting issues, please include any relevant information such as OS (and version), python version (for Windows users this depends on which Deluge installer was used), Deluge version and plugin version.
