Amount of DHT nodes very different on other clients

Post by funnel »

Curious:
I get a maximum of about 180 DHT nodes on Deluge 1.3.1 (1.3.3 is buggy for me) but over 300 on uTorrent 3.1. How could the amount of DHT nodes be so different? Both have been open side-by-side for over 24 hours, and Deluge has always gotten about 180 in past sessions.

I noticed this after recently installing uT to compare a few things. Both listening ports are open according to each client and my router. Other posts have suggested changing ports, disabling the blocklist, or that uT may be connecting to nodes controlled by BitTorrent Inc (which is blocklisted). I've tried the first two of those (and restarted Deluge between changes), but neither results in more than about 180 nodes in Deluge. When changing listening ports, I just swapped the Deluge and uT ports to check if my ISP was throttling one but not the other. Same results. Changing the maximum connections does not seem to affect it, either.

Deluge works fine. It's just strange that the node amounts are so different.

I didn't realise this is more likely a libtorrent issue, not Deluge's. Sorry for the mis-post.
