Deluge can't make connection with target...

Yesterday, I had no problems using Deluge 1.3.3 on a Dell Windows 7 Home Premium laptop. Mostly with torrents of PB. Today, no changes, no new network, nothing I can think of, the trackers don't seem to work. I found a few references that the trackers on PB are no longer working and I have to use magnet links. But those don't connect either, although they don't give an error message. They say "openbittorrent.com: Announce OK". Under 'progress' they show "Checking Resume Data 0.00%" Can anyone help me figure out what I'm doing incorrectly? Thanks.

Piratebay has not has a tracker for quite while now however openbittorrent.com is used as an alternative tracker and the fact that it is announcing OK shows that it is fine. Torrents stuck checking can be caused by permissions or disk space but there are ongoing issues with 1.3.3 and Win7 64bit that might be relevant here so we suggest installing 1.3.1 for now.

But why would everything have worked yesterday? I didn't use magnet links (D/L'ed Homeland, Boardwalk Empire, Simpsons, Family Guy, Cleveland, Pan Am), I just did it the 'old' way. Disk space is fine, I have nearly 500 GB free. I'm stranded without electricity or cable at night, so I load up on what I missed.
