"Slow" setting in Scheduler plugin seems to have no effect

Post by infinitejones »

I'm using deluge 1.2.0-rc1-dev on Ubuntu Karmic beta. Everything's updated fully on Karmic.

My ISP limits my download bandwidth per billing period, and splits it into peak and off-peak - peak is 12pm to 2am daily, and off-peak is all other times. Upload bandwidth is unlimited, so I would like to use the Schedule plugin to allow uploading at all times but downloading only between 2am and 12pm.

In the Scheduler plugin settings, I've set all boxes from 2:00 to 11:59 every day to green, and all others to yellow. Then in the yellow "slow settings" area, I've set download limit to 0, upload limit to -1 and active torrents to -1. (I'm assuming -1 means unlimited.)

It makes no difference - Deluge continues to download and upload all torrents as quickly as possible.

If I set the yellow boxes in the grid to red, it stops all downloads, but I don't want to do that - I want to continue uploading even if deluge is not downloading.

Am I missing something obvious here?

I have a feeling that download speed = 0 could also mean unlimited, try setting it to 1.
also I'd recommend lowering upload speeds during peak hours as high upload traffic can make other thing such as surfing the web slow.

"I have a feeling that download speed = 0 could also mean unlimited, try setting it to 1."
Thanks, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't... if 0 means unlimited, what would -1 mean? No point having two ways of setting it to unlimited, but no ways of setting it to zero! And 1 definitely means 1, because that actually works - if I set the yellow downloads to 1, just one of the torrents downloads. Unfortunately, I want none of them to download!

Also, I'm not worried about unlimited uploads - doesn't seem to have an adverse to affect web surfing. I never have hundreds of torrents or anything like that.

Any more ideas, anyone? Is this a bug that needs submitting?

unlimited, from my limited understanding of how the scheduler works since I don't use it apparently it works on setting number of torrents, not speed limits.

Both 0 and -1 are unlimited. This is simply how libtorrent works. It is currently impossible to set a limit to 0.
