Hey there. Just downloaded 0.5.8.4 for Ubuntu Feisty Fawn and wasn't having any problems until I started downloading a rather big torrent. It would get to about 60% - 80% complete, freeze the computer, then after restarting the computer I would start Deluge again and it restarts the entire torrent.
I went to check the files that it had already downloaded and they were there, not complete files obviously, but there nonetheless. Deluge gave me no warning that I would be rewriting over files or anything.
Anything I can do?
Restart Downloads
Re: Restart Downloads
This is actually slightly similar to a problem that I had recently with 0.5.8.4 on Ubuntu. Deluge crashed while a torrent was at 80% completion. When I restarted Deluge, the torrent was back at 60% completion, which was the percentage that it had been at when I previously started Deluge.
I removed and readded the torrent, it rechecked the files, and picked back up at 80%.
This suggests to me that the fastresume files are only being saved when the client is gracefully shut down.

Re: Restart Downloads
Thanks pete_h. That seemed to work. Guess I'll just have to do that for now. Any idea why the unexpected crashes? That's almost more annoying.

No, I wasn't in a situation to investigate it at the time.ScreamingMonkey wrote:Thanks pete_h. That seemed to work. Guess I'll just have to do that for now. Any idea why the unexpected crashes? That's almost more annoying.
I don't get too bothered by unexpected crashes, except when they happen during the night. It does irk me somewhat when I turn my monitor on in the morning only to discover that my computer has spent half the night sat there doing nothing.
Re: Restart Downloads
== OK, Problem solved for me
*stupid* ==
Hmm the same problem just occured over here. A torrent was at 99% when I had to shutdown the computer, and now deluge shows me 0% completed. Rechecking the files doesnt work...
I used µtorrent to complete the files, after that Deluge gave me 5%.
Now, the solution
As told in the other thread about rechecking files at startup, setting read-only state for the .fastresume files is a possible workaround. So accidentally the fastresume for this torrent was also readonly, but it wasn't completed yet. I don't know why it says 5% later on, but deleting + readding the torrent worked. I guess until the next restart, because Deluge created no .fastresume this time. That means rechecking it all over again next time...
Maybe there should be a message if the .fastresume cannot be accessed, even if a recheck is forced manually...
One problem solved...that leads us to the next problem. The stats are quite mistaken (maybe because of the partially downloaded files?):

I downloaded the last parts of this torrent (same as above!) which is about 50%. So the right side of the bar should be filled blue? No, it isn't as you can see^^
btw, the files tab shows correct information.
Another thing: In the torrent view it says "Finished" on this one, and "Seeding" on all the other ones. Whats the difference?

Re: Restart Downloads
I seem to be possibly having a similar problem, which I first reporter here: http://forum.deluge-torrent.org/viewtop ... f=7&t=2095. But now I think my problem may be more like the one in this thread.
When I restart deluge, after having paused a download, it checks the partially downloaded torrent as if it's there, but then when it starts downloading says 0% had been downloaded already. Then after a few minutes deluge crashes. The only way to get Deluge not to crash is to completely remove the torrent file and delete the files associated with the torrent and start over again from scratch. This is obviously not a feasible solution with a large file that needs to be downloaded over a long period of time, with a laptop that has to been shutdown periodically. Simply deleting the torrent file and readding it doesn't help. Deluge still crashes and fails to show the partially downloaded file. I have been able to reproduce this problem with more than one torrent. Also, I don't see and .fastresume file in ~/.config/deluge.
