Hi, I started downloading a file then realised I do not need it.
Still, I would like to seed what I have already downloaded for the benefits of those who want it.
The best I came up with is setting the options for the torrent with 'max download speed = 0,0 kb/s'
However it seems I still get some very slow download from seeders but deter the peers to download from me.
Is there any better solution?
I use deluge 1.1.0 on an ubuntu 8.10 running from a VM on Leopard (Mac)
Seeding an halted uncomplete download
Re: Seeding an halted uncomplete download
If the torrent has multiple files, set the files that are not 100% completed as do not download, it may still download a few little 'pieces' but then exclusively upload until you choose. If it is just one file I'm not sure if it's possible to set it to no longer download but continue uploading, what you have set is probably your best bet, I wouldn't worry about it too much. This does seem as almost a flaw somehow, in the spirit of torrents you should upload if you've downloaded.
If you're worried about a private site hit-n-run or something usually only completed downloads count. Only your ratio would take a hit based on how much you downloaded before you 'stopped'.

Re: Seeding an halted uncomplete download
many thanks!
it worked perfectly the way you suggested.
Besides, it seems to work also with a single-file torrent
I just had to find how to change the status of a file to 'do not donwload' when the torrent is already open:
here is an explanation for deluge-beginners like me : you just have to right-click on the file status ('priority') to be able to do it.
From a macbook keyboard, it seems to work with cmd+click, or with 'two fingers on the trackpad'+click
Thanks again.
