i am using ubuntu linux 7.10 "gutsy gibbon".
i use deluge for torrents.deluge is showing all my ports as 'closed'.ports even after 6889 are being shown as 'closed'.All random ports selected by deluge are being shown as closed.
due to this i am getting download speed of about 8 Kb/s instead of an average 30 Kb/s as i have a 256kbps connection.How do i open ports so that i can use an open port to get good download speeds ?
Kindly Please help me.I am a new user to linux and dont know much about linux.

the most likely cause is that you're behind a router or a NAT firewall.

if you enable the network health monitor, it should be able to give you (and us) more information about what's going wrong (it'll display a message in the status bar in deluge).

you can try enabling UPnP or NAT-PMP to see if deluge can automatically fix the problem for you.

if that fails you're going to have to manually open up the appropriate ports. if you know your router make & model, you can follow the general guide or the utorrent guide over at portforward.com.

What is the make and model of your router not you wireless pci network card the port forwarding needs to be done in the router most likely in an advanced setup screen different manufacturers use different names for the option in the router. I use deluge in Kubuntu 7.10 which is just ubuntu 7.10 with the kde desktop vs gnome. After I setup the port forwarding in my DLink DIR 655 I can max out my connection both upload and download speeds.
