Queries on deluge from a new user

I had tried shifting to deluge over a year back from bittornado. I liked the UI similar to utorrent for windows. I never used it much as I had a lot of issues when I tried to set the per torrent speed limits. The torrent would stop downloading or uploading if I set the speed limit for it. I am wondering if this issue still exists.

Second question I have is whenever I add a new torrent deluge shows me an option set private flag. If I dont check it but the torrent has a private flag set will deluge respect the private flag that has been set on the torrent and disable DHT (i have it enabled in the preference).

Third question that I have is while creating torrent if I dont choose the piece size will it choose it automatically and is there any way to make deluge always create torrents with the private flag set?

I am thinking of trying deluge for sometime to see if it fits my requirements. Currently I am using transmission, if I like deluge would love to shift back to it.

1. I have not had any issues setting up per-torrent up/down speed limits with the current RC.

2. It has been my experience that the current RC respects the private flag.

3. The current RC has not implemented torrent creation. If you would still like to use deluge, its a simple matter of creating the torrent file in your current torrent client, then opening it with deluge to do the actual seeding.

I'd advise you to remember that the current version is a Release Candidate, so its not unreasonable to expect bugs and functionality to change. Even considering that, I've found it to be quite stable and functional for me, your experiences may vary. Its also extremely helpful to devs and other users if you report any problems you have with the features important to you so that those issues can be fixed for everyone.

Thanks for the info. I am running this on debian unstable and seems like the version in debian repository is still 0.5.9.3. I will probably have to wait till the RC or the stable release comes into the repository.

Just in case you didn't realize. There are Debian SID packages (both i386 and x86_64 systems) on the download page http://deluge-torrent.org/downloads.php
